The International Biennial of Painting kicks off tomorrow in Padru , four days dedicated to the art of murals that will transform the town into an open-air museum.

From 11 to 14 May the municipality of Monte Acuto will host the second part of the event which was launched last September with the inaugural concert of the Tazenda and which will see the participation of various international level mural artists.

The artistic kermesse will be presented tomorrow at 10, in the council chamber of the Municipality, by the mayor Antonello Idini, the councilor for Culture Donatella Arru and the artistic director Paolo Sirena.

«After the numerous editions in which painting on canvas was the protagonist, we decided - says the mayor Antonello Idini - to dedicate the entire Biennale to muralism , bringing art outside the buildings. The basic idea was to direct this second part of the Biennale towards the painting of murals in order to give this artistic form a role of absolute centrality in the event».

The event also includes moments of involvement dedicated to citizens of all ages, from school children to the elderly . Among the scheduled appointments, in fact, there will also be a photographic competition and a photography workshop , scheduled for Thursday 11 and Friday 12, and curated by the architect Bruno Massimo Medda.

«This new idea of the Biennale - explained the Councilor for Culture Donatella Arru - which sees art represented outside the buildings, immediately thrilled me because it makes the works accessible to all fellow villagers and at any time . Furthermore, in line with the artistic director Paolo Sirena, we wanted to involve the students of our schools to give them an artistic experience in contact with the muralists and make them an active part of the Biennale. Thanks to Padru's Auser, involvement will also be ensured for high-end citizens; even adults, therefore, on Saturday, will be able to try their hand at using colors on the wall».

Exceptional presence Radoslava Manova, better known as Radé . The collaboration with the Bulgarian artist began in 2022 through the Municipality of Sardara, which is twinned with the city of Pernik due to the presence, in both, of a sacred well: the Nuragic one of Sant'Anastasia, in Sardara, and the Well sacred well of Gârlo, the only sacred well with "nuragic" characteristics found outside the borders of Sardinia.

After the awarding of the participants in the photo contest, and the tour of the murals located in the streets of the town, the event will officially close on Sunday 15th with the donation of Radé's work to the Municipality of Padru .
