The Court of Cassation – third civil section of the Court of Milan – confirmed the conviction for defamation, imposing on Fabri Fibra and the record company Universal Music Italia a compensation of 70 thousand euros in favor of Valerio Scanu.

The story began in 2013, the year of publication of the song under accusation: A me di te, included in the rapper's album Guerra e Pace. In the incriminated verses, Fabri Fibra made offensive and allusive reference to the singer-songwriter from Maddalena , in a long passage considered denigrating and damaging to his reputation. The song was a denunciation against the media and targeted Scanu himself: it did not refer to him directly, with his name and surname, but it was not enough to make him unrecognizable.

Scanu, at the time, had immediately reacted through legal means.

"Music is freedom," his lawyers declared, "but insulting a person in a squalid way is neither music nor art. Expressing one's thoughts is a right, but not when it leads to defamation."

After more than a decade of legal battles, the Constitutional Court has put an end to the legal dispute between the two artists.

With the final sentence, the one issued by the Court of Milan in 2016 is confirmed, which had recognized the responsibility of Fabri Fibra – registered as Fabrizio Tarducci – for defamation towards the former Amici singer who won the Sanremo Festival in 2010 with Per tutte le volte che.
