The flu vaccination campaign is underway in Sardinia , with an additional opportunity for those who decide to participate: this year, vaccinations will be carried out not only at local health authority vaccination centers and in the offices of general practitioners and pediatricians, but also in pharmacies affiliated with Federfarma Sardegna , thanks to the renewed agreement.
The initiative, part of the structured collaboration between the Region and Federfarma, allows eligible citizens to receive the flu vaccine free of charge by simply visiting one of the more than 600 pharmacies in the regional network with their health card . The vaccinations will be administered by specially trained pharmacists and recorded in the AVacS information system of the Regional Vaccination Registry.
The agreement aims to ensure maximum accessibility to prevention, especially in rural areas and smaller municipalities , where pharmacies are often the health facility most easily reached by citizens.
"With this initiative," said Health Councilor Armando Bartolazzi , "we confirm the Region's commitment to making prophylaxis a right truly accessible to all. Including pharmacies in the regional vaccination network allows us to more effectively reach the most isolated communities, improving coverage and reducing risks for the most vulnerable. Community pharmacies are a cornerstone of our widespread community healthcare model."
"Our collaboration with the Region is increasingly operational," said Pierluigi Annis, president of Federfarma Sardegna . "The island's pharmacies are ready to support the vaccination campaign by making available the most extensive local healthcare network in Sardinia. We are available to further expand the healthcare services offered to citizens, thus contributing to the protection of public health."
As indicated in the Regional Circular on Influenza Prevention and Control 2025-2026, vaccination is actively offered free of charge by the Regional Health Service to the following groups: people aged 60 and over; people of any age with chronic diseases or at-risk conditions; healthcare and social care workers, law enforcement, and essential service workers; and blood donors.
Vaccination is also recommended for pregnant women and those caring for vulnerable individuals. The Sardinia Region's goal is to reach and exceed the minimum threshold of 75% vaccination coverage among those over 65, with an optimal target of 95%, as established nationally.
Affiliated pharmacies will publish the list of vaccination sites, access methods, and available hours on their respective websites and information channels.
