For 36 years in Sardinia there has not been such a high cost of living with the price increases reaching 8.5 per cent per year: 0.3 per cent less than in 1986.

Taking as an example the statistical analysis developed by the Municipality of Cagliari on the percentage changes in prices, 10.1 percent more is spent on having breakfast at home than in July of last year. Yogurt costs 12.1 percent more, fruit juice 11.1 percent.

1.4 percent more is spent on aperitifs and cigarettes than last year. Eating or sleeping outside is also becoming a luxury reserved for the few. The increase in the prices of hospitality and catering services is around 7 percent.
