From June 12th to 14th, Turin hosted the Italian Absolute Indoor Freediving Championships and the Italian Paralympic Indoor Freediving Championships , organized by FIPSAS in collaboration with the La Salle Eridano company. Three days dedicated to the indoor freediving disciplines: Static, Dynamic with Equipment, Dynamic without Equipment, Endurance, and Speed.
Sardinia participated in the event with six clubs : ASD Club Sub Cagliari, Passione Apnea ASD, Polisportiva Air Sub Apnea Competition, Deep Blue Sardinia, ASD Water Life SC, and AS Dilettantistica Apnea Team Sassari. The island delegation consisted of twelve male and two female athletes , competing in various events scheduled for the Turin weekend.
The final tally was five gold medals, four silvers, and an Italian record. Among the most notable results was that of Nicolò D'Atri, who set a new Italian Paralympic record in the Dynamics without Equipment event, and who also won gold in the Dynamics with Two Fins event and silver in the Statics event.
Gold medals also went to Ottavio Demontis and Mariangela Redoscani, while Marco Argiolas earned three silver medals. These results contributed to the island teams' strong overall placing in the final medal table of the competition.
The races featured Italy's top athletes, who completed a particularly intense program spread across three days. In the dynamic and endurance events, athletes had to master strategy, pace, and physical control, while the speed races required speed and precision.
For the Sardinian clubs, the trip to Turin represents a positive outcome, confirming the continuity of the work done in recent years, both technically and in competitive preparation. Participation in the Italian Championships also provided the athletes with the opportunity to compete at a high level and assess their development ahead of the upcoming national and international federal events scheduled for the second half of the season.
