The numbers that emerge from the 2022 tax returns in Sardinia are thrilling: half of the taxpayers have failed to bring home more than 15 thousand euros in a year. Over a third did not even reach 10 thousand euros.

Figures that have been released by the Ministry of Finance for 2022 and therefore for the 2021 tax year. The regional economic framework is precarious to say the least.

In fact , an army of families seems to be resisting on the island who live on the brink of poverty every day, clinging to state subsidies and ready to capitulate in the face of the first unexpected event.

"The numbers reflect the enormous difficulties that Sardinian families are going through," says Massimo Puxeddu, regional manager of the CGIL tax assistance centres. " In fact, average incomes are so low that it is now impossible to survive without asking for government subsidies ." But there's more. "Thousands of Sardinians manage to scrape together such low incomes that they can't even take advantage of bonuses and deductions," underlines Puxeddu. "Having no taxes to pay, they cannot in fact discharge them".
