Alessandra Todde's interim term as Health Department will not be short. The Regional President—who was heard today by the sixth committee on the relevant parts of the budget and the program to reduce waiting lists—didn't clearly state this. But it's difficult to foresee a shortened duration for her dual role, especially given the commitments she announced today.

"My interim? There's no point in questioning its duration; we must focus on the effectiveness of political action," he explained at the end of the hearing. "Right now, there's a need for a change of pace. This doesn't mean we don't recognize the important work done by Councilor Bartolazzi. Now, however, there's a broader organizational issue on the agenda, one that aligns with the work that individual Local Health Authorities (ASLs), Ares, and the Department itself." For this reason, he added, "we need very strong political input and answers to the Sardinians, who in the meantime are facing problems that are evident to everyone. My direct commitment is tied to this, to overseeing a new organization." Then will come "the new commitment of the general directors. For me, the important thing is to make it clear that there's an understanding regarding a work that must be done comprehensively. We've often suffered from the fact that the structures don't communicate with each other, from the fact that the waiting lists are not integrated, and from the fact that some sectors work in silos. The fact that we still don't have a regional health plan to draw on for planning is one of the issues up for discussion. I believe we need an interdepartmental commitment from the president, which is why I took on the interim role."

Today and tomorrow, the selection committee will interview the candidates for the general directorships. "The committee is working; the list will be made available in the next few days, and we will make the appointments as soon as possible." Once the appointments are made, however, it's not a given that Alessandra Todde will leave the interim position.
