A George Orwell classic adapted for the stage for audiences ages 6 and up. "Animal Farm," produced by the Formia-based Teatro Bertolt Brecht company, will be performed at the Astra Theatre in Sassari on Sunday at 6 pm.
The work follows Orwell's story in a grotesque and comic way, telling the story of a mare who exploits all the animals on her farm to maximize her profit. However, things soon change: the pigs, stronger and more intelligent than the others, take complete control of the farm, betraying the trust of all the other animals, even reaching an agreement with the old mare to sell their products. The ending is a surprise and will engage young audiences in finding the solution. The story is told by a donkey and a mare who, now old, remember that time of hope. Music, costumes, and puppets accompany the tale.
The stage adaptation is by Pompeo Perrone, directed by Maurizio Stammati. On stage are Peter Ercolano, Sara Petrone, and Maurizio Stammati. Costumes and sets are by Dora Ricca and Luigi Tornincasa, puppets by Ada Mirabassi, and original music is by Giordano Treglia.
The show is part of the 36th edition of "Famiglie a Teatro," the season dedicated to children's theater in Sardinia, organized by the company La Botte e il Cilindro with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Sardinia Region, the Municipality of Sassari, and the Fondazione di Sardegna.
