At 17, he won the prestigious Aeolus Prize in Germany. Last year, he triumphed at the Kobe Prize, the world's leading flute competition held in Japan every four years. German-born flutist Fabian Johannes Egger is one of the youngest talents to emerge internationally.
Egger will perform on Tuesday at 8:30 pm in the Sassu Hall of the Canepa Conservatory in Sassari for the latest "Spring Concerts," the chamber music series organized by the Ellipsis Cultural Association. The young talent will be accompanied on piano by Fabio Moi, concert pianist and professor at the Sassari Conservatory.
The program spans repertoire, literary influences, and instrumental virtuosity, from Schubert's Romantic lyricism to Egger's own contemporary fairytale dimension, from Reinecke's musical narrative to Taffanel's spectacular virtuosity. Performances will include "Trockene Blumen ," variations on Franz Schubert's Lied D. 802, Op. post. 160; Fabian Johannes Egger's "Leben ist nicht genug ," a composition inspired by a story by Hans Christian Andersen; Carl Reinecke's "Undine" Sonata, Op. 167, one of the most beloved pieces of the Romantic repertoire for flute and piano; and, finally, a Fantasy on Themes from the Frank Hunter by Carl Maria von Weber.
