Payrolls are lighter in 22 Italian provinces out of 107, but Sardinia goes against the trend, with Oristano and Southern Sardinia recording the greatest increase in the wages of employees, +11.8% and +11.2% respectively. However, the overall "leanness" of the fees remains, which place the provinces of the island very far from the first places at national level.
This is certified by the new report of the "Guglielmo Tagliacarne" Chambers of Commerce Study Centre , which compared the data on employee wages for 2019 with those for 2021.
The dossier shows leaner salaries of over a thousand euros each for employees in Venice, Florence and Prato. While the top growths are seen in Milan (+1,908 euros), Parma (+1,425) and Savona (+1,282).
Under the Madonnina the employees are also the best paid in Italy, with an average salary of 30,464 euros in 2021, two and a half times the national average of 12,473 euros and nine times higher than that of Rieti, bringing up the rear in the pay ranking.
And in Sardinia? As mentioned, the greatest increases were recorded in Oristano and Southern Sardinia , but in the overall ranking of the provinces/metropolitan cities for per capita income from employment , the first is in 76th place with an average income of 7,723.58 while the second is in 96th place with 6,513.93 euros.
The province where things are going better is Cagliari - seventeenth - where the per capita income from employment in 2021 stands at 14,244.03 euros, with 4.9% compared to 2019 .
Sassari, on the other hand, ranks 56th in the ranking, with 9,016.39 euros and with a very minimal increase compared to 2019, equal to 0.8%.
Overall, at national level, average wages have increased by 301 euros in these three years, but, as mentioned, in 22 provinces they have decreased by 312 euros.
According to the director general of the “Tagliacarne” Study Center, Gaetano Fausto Esposito , «if we compare the ranking of per capita GDP (which measures the production of wealth) with that of wages, we see that in the first case practically all the last thirty positions are the prerogative of southern provinces (with the sole exception of Rieti), while in that of per capita wages we find as many as 10 provinces of the Centre-North, which leads us to reflect on income policies at the local level ».
