In Sardinia, the average temperature is set to increase by up to two degrees over the next thirty years.

This is what we read in the study by the Eurispes institute entitled "Policies for climate change and development of action plans for sustainable energy and climate for the municipalities of the Sardinia Region", presented today during a webinar. The dossier also foresees a widespread increase over the whole region in the number of days per year with a maximum temperature greater than 30.1 degrees, against a reduction in the number of days with a minimum temperature below 0 degrees.

The research, beyond the forecasts on the reflections in the island of global warming, is a sort of vademecum to guide the Region and the municipal administrations in the process of joining the Covenant of Mayors for energy and climate and, consequently, to the drafting of the Paesc, an acronym that applies to the Action Plan for sustainable energy and climate. In November 2021, the number of signatories to the Pact in Europe is 10,036 Municipalities, and the Italian figure reaches 4,890 units. As regards Sardinia, there are approximately 164 signatories, but no support body has been identified and none of the 5 coordinating bodies is active.

The study carried out by Eurispes thanks to the contribution of the Regional Department for Planning and Budget, sees the 377 municipalities of the island as recipients, of which about 350 are under 10,000 inhabitants, called to create the Paesc. The work intends to provide indications and elements to guide the choices and actions of local authorities that find themselves having to deal with a complex matter. Given the size of the urban realities of the island, the research confirms the need to favor the grouping, by homogeneous areas, of small territorial realities in order to achieve the objectives set by the European Union for 2050.

This indication, in particular, must be developed "with a view to networking and enhancing the possibilities of individual territories through mechanisms similar to those of consortiums or business networks".
