In Sardinia, 39 cities and tourist towns apply the tourist tax and since 2022 they have collected a total of 19.2 million euros. In the summer, with more guests and longer application times, an increase is expected.

The numbers, problems and trends – in Italy and abroad – are collected by the National Tourist Tax Observatory, managed by JFC Tourism & Management, a consultancy and marketing company led by Massimo Feruzzi.

In detail, the island collects 3.1% of the national quota. The ten Municipalities that collect the most are: Arzachena (2 million 110 thousand euros); Olbia (2 million 088 thousand); Villasimius (1 million 922 thousand); Palau (1 million 243 thousand); Santa Teresa Gallura (1 million 224 thousand); Budoni (1 million 164 thousand); Alghero (1 million 155 thousand); Cagliari (1 million 049 thousand); San Teodoro (913 thousand); Golfo Aranci (797 thousand).

At the bottom of the standings is Torpé, with an income of 2,601 euros.

In Cagliari the tax ranges from 2 euros in hotels with 4 stars or more to 1 euro in those with 1 or 2 stars, 1.5 euros in non-hotel structures, the administration has evaluated whether to bring it to 3 euros, but the it will eventually start in 2024.
