The process for the construction of plants for the production of renewable hydrogen continues in the abandoned industrial areas of Sardinia.

The call for funding has been published on the Region's portal: thanks to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, there are a total of 21 million euros available.

The conversion projects will be evaluated on the basis of the targets approved by the European Commission: in fact, the tender provides that the abandoned industrial areas of the island are used as experimental units for the production of hydrogen , through plants from local renewable energy sources located in the same industrial complex or in neighboring areas.

The goal is to create a sort of "Hydrogen Valley" on the island. The measure must also support the production of electrolytic hydrogen from renewable energy sources or from grid electricity.

Applications for subsidies can be submitted from 9 am on 30 January until 1 pm on 28 February 2023.

«An increasingly green Sardinia , an ideal terrain for technological innovation and green transition. We want to support and encourage direct investments in clean energy, without sacrificing the territory and in full respect of the environment», explains the president of the Region, Christian Solinas.

«The Regional Council - adds the regional councilor for Industry, Anita Pili - has chosen to tackle the path of energy transition with large investments in clean energy. With this announcement we are also giving companies the opportunity to innovate and become protagonists of this fundamental process of diversification of energy sources".
