Alessandra Todde – Governor
"The Constitution is safe and remains the guiding light for our actions. I am proud of the great result achieved in Sardinia," declared the President of the Region, Alessandra Todde , commenting on the referendum results.
Massimo Zedda – Mayor of Cagliari
"The fact that so many citizens participated in the vote is always a positive element for our democracy. With the victory of the No vote, Italians demonstrate that they care about the Constitution," declared Cagliari Mayor Massimo Zedda .
Silvio Lai – Secretary of the Sardinian Democratic Party
"The result emerging from Sardinia sends a clear, strong, and unequivocal political signal. The clear "No" vote demonstrates a conscious participation and a determined stance on the part of Sardinian citizens," stated MP Silvio Lai, regional secretary of the Democratic Party. "Sardinia rejects the government and right-wingers' claim to amend the Constitution to bend the justice system to the will of political power. This is a political defeat for President Meloni, who will now be unable to amend the electoral law for her own interests and will also have to give up the differentiated autonomy that would have divided the country into rich and poor regions," he added in a statement. "The referendum result cannot be interpreted solely in numerical terms, but expresses a profound orientation: the desire to defend principles, institutional balance, and a vision of democracy that the Sardinians felt was not adequately guaranteed by the referendum proposal."
Piero Comandini – President of the Regional Council
"The response we received from voters today is a positive and important result for everyone, regardless of how they voted. The people respond when the Constitution is called into question, and when they do so so clearly and comprehensively, the entire political system has a duty to listen and address their concerns," said Piero Comandini, President of the Regional Council.
