Sardinia more and more expensive, retail prices in our region continue to grow . And they do it faster than in the rest of Italy.

Adiconsum Sardegna, reworking the inflation data for the month of March released by Istat, observes that Sardinia is the second region of Italy with the highest inflation .

" In March, prices rose by +9% on an annual basis, against a national average of +7.6% ", affirms Giorgio Vargiu , president of the consumers' association. For an average family the sting is 2,231 euros a year .

There is a slowdown compared to recent months, but "it is solely determined by the reduction in energy prices", continues the association.

In fact, food prices , a primary item of expenditure, continue to increase: +15% is recorded on the island (in February it was +14, in January +13.4), against a national average of 13.2% . Just to eat, a Sardinian family " finds itself spending 688 euros more a year today ".

"The citizens of Sardinia continue to be heavily penalized in terms of retail prices - Vargiu denounces - We reiterate our request to the Government to intervene urgently to control price lists and support families , adopting truly effective measures, starting from the cut VAT on food and basic necessities, because with inflation at these levels the real risk is to push thousands of Sardinian families towards the poverty line ».
