Inflation is also slowing down in Sardinia , with the growth rate of retail prices continuing to remain above the national average and showing a very different trend depending on the cities of the region.

This is what we read in a note from Adiconsum Sardegna, which analyzed the latest data provided by Istat.

«In June, inflation in Sardinia stood at 6.8% against the 6.4% of the national average - explains the president Giorgio Vargiu - The growth in prices in the food sector has been sustained, which marks a +11.6% on a per year (against the +11% of the Italian average), equivalent to a higher expenditure, for the same consumption equal to +532.5 euros per year per resident family ».

The price increases are also significant for the tourism sector, «with the island's accommodation facilities which have increased their rates by an average of +11.7%. The price trend, however, is not homogeneous across the territory: Cagliari records an inflation rate of 6%, and the price lists of hotels, B&Bs, boarding houses, etc. grow by +8.2% on an annual basis, while in Olbia inflation reaches an average of 7%, food is up by 12.4% and accommodation services even increase by +20.8% ».

« Inflation is slowing down – he concluded – but the prices of basic necessities, starting with food, are still rising sharply and risk creating a real social emergency. The initiatives of the Price Guarantor will be of little use (he has no powers to guarantee anything!); for this reason we ask the Government to cool down retail price lists by identifying a basket of basic necessities at fixed prices, in order to support families in difficulty with daily shopping".
