It will be the first in Italy to be placed on public land and dedicated to a scientist. This is the statue that portrays the famous astrophysicist Margherita Hack and will be built in Milan.
It will be installed in Milan in Largo Richini, in the garden in front of the State University.
The author of the bronze work is Daniela Olivieri, aka Sissi, a stylist who currently teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, and has won numerous international awards in the past: she was chosen by a special jury after an ideas competition launched by the Deloitte Foundation, Casa degli Artisti and the Municipality of Milan, in which 8 Italian and international artists participated.
The sculpture, entitled "Physical gaze", represents Margherita Hack - whose centenary of her birth is celebrated this year - intent on observing the stars as she emerges from a vortex depicting the galaxy.
