Paolo Pillonca, born in Osilo in 1942, directed the Nuoro editorial staff of L'Unione Sarda for ten years (1979-1988), after significant experience as a literature teacher in high schools. He was a constant point of reference in the study, protection, and promotion of the Sardinian language. He devoted himself in particular to improvised poetry. He wrote in limba Caddos (1995 with Barore Ligios), Chent'annos (1996), Laras (2000), the novel Antonandria (2006), and several songs for Piero Marras, the tenors Santa Sarbana di Silanos, Franco Madau, Anna Maria Puggioni, and Maria Giovanna Cherchi. He directed the Press Office of the Sardinia Region and edited and hosted television programs in the Sardinian language on Sardegna 1.
