Twenty-second edition in Cagliari of “Uno sguardo nuovo-Sardinia queer film expo 2024”, the first Sardinian festival dedicated to cinema with lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersexual and asexual themes. It starts tomorrow in the Eleonora d'Arborea room on the ground floor of the Library Center in via Falzarego 35.

153 short films from 30 countries, from Argentina to Mongolia, have entered the festival. The Circolo ARCinema and the festival secretariat have pre-selected 25 shorts, for a total of about 6 hours of viewing: 3,800 euros in prizes up for grabs. This year the historic formula is changing to give more space to short films.

In the first three evenings, from tomorrow to Thursday 7th, all the works in competition will be screened: the public will be able to see them and vote for them. On Friday 8th, the three finalist shorts will be screened again and voted on by the public to choose the winner of the Sardinia Queer Audience Award 2024. Some special events are planned: Thursday 7th at 7 pm, the presentation of the book Trame Queer. Ritratti di famiglia nelle serie tv by Gabriele Romagnolo (Villaggio Maori Editore), in the presence of the author. On Friday 8th, again at 7 pm, the screening out of competition of the short film made entirely with the artificial intelligence genderity by Filippo Arras is scheduled, in the presence of the director. Furthermore, again on Friday 8th but at 9:30 pm, the film Chuck Chuck Baby by Welsh director Janis Pugh will be screened as a preview for Sardinia.

The festival is organized by the cultural and voluntary association Arc OdV and the ArCinema club of Cagliari.
