The electricity sector, with 1,500 Enel employees in Sardinia, came to a halt due to the national strike promoted by Filctem Cgil, Flaei Cisl and Uiltec Uil. To express their disappointment towards the company's attitude, workers from all over the island demonstrated in Cagliari, in front of the headquarters in Piazza Amendola. Two other garrisons took place in Sassari and Olbia .

«Enel's attempt to outsource strategic activities and cut investments for the energy transition, putting direct and contract workers at risk, is unacceptable», explained the regional secretaries Francesco Garau (Filctem), Gianrico Cuboni (Flaei) and Pierluigi Loi (Uiltec), underlining that «at the center of the protest is the attempt by the company to disengage from the current concessions, in distribution, in thermoelectric, hydroelectric and geothermal production».

Among the requests, the maintenance of hydroelectric concessions, investments in green energy production, sustainable development of renewables, the creation of innovative distribution networks and the strengthening of Enel points for services to citizens.

«The Enel Group represents a heritage for the entire community», concluded Garau, Cuboni and Loi, underlining that «we will go to the end in a battle that has the aim of protecting that heritage built in over sixty years of activity with the contribution of thousands of workers."
