Expectation in Burcei for the presentation of the folk group of the Cultural Association “A Passu Antigu”. It is composed of 23 boys and girls from the village, a board of directors, a teacher with the aim of preserving the values of the past and making them known to everyone in all their splendor: the boys wear all the ancient costumes of the village, many of their grandparents. Tomorrow, Sunday, at 4 pm the group “A passu antigu” will be presented in the parish hall of Burcei with a conference open to all. The group already has a board of directors formed by the president Adele Cardia, the vice president Franco Ignazio Zuncheddu, the secretary Ramona Zucca and the vice secretary Morena Zucca, all committed, with the teacher Franco Zuncheddu to relaunch the costumes and folk of Burcei. The aim is to also take care of the themes related to clothing, music and traditional dance.

"Now," said President Adele Cardia, "as for a baby in swaddling clothes, the need has arisen to give visibility to the group, celebrating its baptism through a public presentation of the group and its activities, which is at the same time a moment of promotion and discovery, but also of entertainment and leisure. The event is entitled "We start again from here", underlining that those who love traditions and their authenticity, cannot but start again from history, documented by photographs of the past and the testimonies of our ancestors . The event that will illustrate the uses and customs of the town of Burcei is split into two moments: the first with the participation of figures of expertise (Ignazio Sanna Fancello, Cristiano Cani, Orlando Mascia and fellow countryman Giuseppe Serra, one of the founders of the association in 1993) will take care of themes related to clothing, music and traditional dance."

The Group mainly wears authentic clothing that belonged to the ancestors in different variations (from those of the late 1800s to the early 1950s), especially for women. The second moment focuses on the typical dance "Su passu campidanesu", which remains one of the few (if not unique) versions of the Sardinian dance to be re-proposed exactly as it was performed in the 1800s-1900s in the squares . Without ever having been contaminated by scholastic adaptations or excessive choreographic elements.

The 23 young boys and girls who make up the group (aged between 14 and 33), have embraced the idea of reviving a path that already existed in the village since 1993 with the Burcei Art, Culture and Popular Traditions Center . Four of its historical members, Franco Zuncheddu, Adele Cardia, Morena and Ramona Zucca support the boys in the culture of traditional dance and clothing, transmitting what they themselves received in the past directly from the local elders. The boys give a new name to the association, highlighting the meaning of this great project: to travel the modern streets, but "A Passu Antigu", following in the footsteps of their ancestors, in dance, in costume, in bearing and above all in respect and devotion for the authenticity of the local identity.
