Also next year, (on May 13th and 15th), at the Giovanni Lilliu center in Barumini the long-awaited appointment with "The journey of Nur, from the Shardana to the Kingdom of Italy" will be renewed, an educational experience that combines history and fun. This innovative and now consolidated project, the result of the collaboration between its creator, Professor Gianfranco Sperati, with the Barumini Sistema Cultura Foundation and the collaboration with various schools in the area, aims to discover the history of Sardinia in an engaging and interactive way.
In 2024, over 400 students from Villamar, Lunamatrona, Segariu, Barumini, Gesturi, Villanovafranca, Siddi, Guspini and Pabillonis were involved and were able to experience an educational adventure that took them through the eras of our island, from the Shardana to the Kingdom of Italy. Thanks to the board game created by Professor Sperati, similar to Monopoly and Risk, the kids were able to face challenges with questions, unexpected events and simulated battles, to learn history while having fun.
“Also for this school year we want to confirm our commitment to the schools in the area because we believe that Barumini, with the UNESCO site of Su Nuraxi just a few steps away, is the ideal place to host these educational paths linked to the history of Sardinia”, underlines Emanuele Lilliu, president of the Barumini Sistema Cultura Foundation .
During the two days of May 13 and 15, 2025, the classes will challenge each other again with “history blows” in a crescendo of emotions that will culminate with the final between the best teams. The journey with the warrior Nur will offer students the opportunity to live a unique experience, where they will be active protagonists in learning about the roots of our land, from prehistory to the Giudicale age and the Kingdom of Italy.
“I have a well-founded hope that Nur's Journey can contribute to the knowledge of a story that is not 'second rate', quite the opposite, and that offers, indeed, continuous connections with other stories and other cultures”, underlines Gianfranco Sperati, teacher and creator of the game “we also believe that everything can be done lightly, helped by play: this explains the slogan of our manifesto: "because we play with history". Furthermore, we are also starting this year with enthusiasm with "Nur's Journey" that allows us to approach Sardinian history by combining scientific rigor and fun. We are grateful to the Foundation for the fundamental collaboration”, adds Roberto Scema, headmaster of the Villamar Institute involved in the project.
While waiting for the key days, it is still possible for schools to participate and involve their students in a new and captivating experience. For this reason, all schools in the area that want to participate and join us in this exciting educational journey can contact the Villamar Institute or Professor Sperati and propose their presence.
