«Today, along the Lido di San Giovanni, we have written another page of this history: the World Para Swimming Open Water Cup, takes root in Alghero».

This is how Councilor Enrico Daga commented on the Alghero stage of the Paralympic World Cup in open water that took place on Saturday morning in a portion of the urban coastline with protagonists, Italians and foreigners for courses of 1.5 or 3 km. "It is not just a sporting event: it is a strategic choice - continues Daga - it is the proof that Alghero can and knows how to be an international and inclusive city, where every barrier can be removed and where accessibility is not an addition, but part of the urban identity".

For this reason, alongside the competition, a conference on accessible sports tourism was held at Alguer Hall. "A moment of discussion between institutions, professionals and associations to strengthen the role of Alghero as a tourist destination for all, capable of combining quality of life, rights, sustainable development. The administration wanted this conference with determination, because we do not want to limit ourselves to the sports aspect", concludes the councilor, thanking the federations, the organizers "and all those who believed in this challenge. But above all we thank the athletes: extraordinary women and men, who teach us every day what the word "resilience" really means".
