A double screening of the award-winning film “Io Capitano” by Matteo Garrone on the occasion of International Migrant Rights Day.
On Tuesday 17 December, an awareness-raising event will be held at the Cinema Miramare and the Quarter for the SAI (former SPRAR Reception and Integration System) “Junts” project of the Municipality of Alghero and GUS (Human Solidarity Group) in collaboration with the Società Umanitaria di Alghero.
The film, based on several true stories of emigration from the African continent to Italy across the Mediterranean, will be screened in the presence of co-star Moustapha Fall , originally from Dakar.
With the team of operators and referents of the SAI project of Alghero, on December 17th the Senegalese actor Fall will be present in the hall for the matinée reserved for the city schools at the Cinema Miramare in Alghero and then in the evening at 7 pm in the conference room of Lo Quarter , for a debate with the public at the end of the screening.
The work - a contemporary odyssey that tells the adventurous journey of two young people, Seydou and Moussa, through the dangers of the desert, the dangers of the sea and the ambiguities of the human being - has received numerous prestigious awards , such as the Silver Lion for Best Director and the Marcello Mastroianni Award at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, a nomination for the Oscar Awards in the top five of the best international films and for the 2024 Golden Globes in the category of Best Foreign Film and as many as 7 awards at the 2024 David di Donatello Awards.
