The University of Sassari will award an Honorary Doctorate in Veterinary Sciences to Ilaria Capua , a virologist and science communicator known primarily for her studies on avian influenza.
The ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 4th at 11:00 a.m. in the Aula Magna of the University of Sassari. Rector Gavino Mariotti, Eugenio Garriba, director of the Doctoral School, and Alberto Alberti, coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Veterinary Sciences, will be present.
Ilaria Capua will give a Lectio doctoralis on the topic of "Circular Health: The Necessary Synthesis of Health and Sustainability."
The day will open At 9:30 a.m. in the Botanical Garden, in collaboration with the weTree Association—of which Professor Capua is a founding member—a tree will be planted in memory of Professor Rina Mazzette.
