Il Sole 24 Ore's 160th anniversary celebrations are coming to Sardinia. The "Silent Reading Tour" is scheduled for tonight at 9:30 pm at the Abi d'Oru Beach Hotel & Spa, in Golfo di Marinella, Porto Rotondo . This original initiative by the newspaper, following its debut in Palermo, is coming to Olbia "with an innovative format for shared and informed reading," according to a press release.

The synergy

The evening, organized in collaboration with L'Unione Sarda, will be opened by Emanuele Dessì (director of the Group's newspapers) and Diana Zuncheddu (CEO of the Abi d'Oru Beach Hotel & Spa ). Roberto Iotti, deputy director of Il Sole 24 Ore, will introduce and guide the evening, leading the audience "in a silent reading of the newspaper for an immersive experience under the stars." Il Sole is printed in the Unione Sarda's modern printing center, next to Elmas Airport.

The initiative

The "Silent Reading Party" is inspired by an American model of participatory group reading, typically associated with books, and has been adapted for the first time to newspaper reading thanks to an initiative by Il Sole 24 Ore. The goal, the statement continues, is to promote not only the importance of returning to a reading method that prioritizes concentration, away from and undisturbed by technological devices and therefore "silent," but also to encourage "quality" reading, reasoned and discussed in groups, to rediscover reading as an act of connection with oneself and others, beyond digital distractions.

Il Sole 24 Ore's "Silent Reading Tour" is part of the initiatives marking the 160th anniversary of the newspaper, founded in Milan in 1865 and currently edited by Fabio Tamburini. An editorial journey that has spanned the history of the country and is now renewed with projects that put the reader, the quality of information, and the value of sharing at the center. "Il Sole 24 Ore has witnessed profound changes, major challenges, and dramatic events through its consistently timely and equidistant narrative: revolutions large and small, evolutions, and stories that have intertwined the life of the world and the country with that of its readers through the pages of the newspaper."
