Costantino Idini from Porto Torres, known Tino, born in 1955, defender-midfielder of great talents, was one of the Sardinian players to serve in Serie A in Cagliari, albeit in an unfortunate year like 1975-'76, that of relegation in B and the third serious injury to Riva. After 2 years of the Under 18 national team at the court of Azeglio Vicini, for Tino Idini another championship in the rossoblù among the cadets, then splendid seasons in Serie C and B with Spal, Padua, Taranto, Trento and Nuorese, with whom in 1985 he concluded the career, taking to heart the fate of a promising boy: Gianfranco Zola, of which Tino Idini is also godfather of Confirmation.
What is Tino Idini doing now?
"I enjoy my retirement in Sarroch, together with my family. After I stopped playing I worked for 29 years in the Moratti refinery as a clerk".
Is football?
“Always my passion. I worked for several years as an amateur coach in Cagliari and above all I keep a fraternal relationship with my former teammates at Porto Torres, with whom we won the provincial title of the pupils in 1970, only giving up 1-0 in the regional final against Cagliari ".
On that occasion, in Oristano, the passage with the rossoblùs.
“Yes, Mario Tiddia, then youth coach, didn't even let me go home. After a year and a half Mondino Fabbri made me debut in the Italian Cup against Milan. I branded a certain Romeo Benetti. It went very well ”.
Are you still friends with old Cagliari teammates?
“Of course, God forbid, starting with Gigi Piras. But apart from Riva, the greatest was Brugnera: it exuded class from all pores ”.
How much has football changed since those times?
"Very very much. Before we were more technical, but we could raise our heads to serve the unmarked teammate. Now they don't give you time. If you are not fast you do not play. So this football would have been ideal for Idini, dynamic and quick player I think so, without being presumptuous. But we knew how to mark and perhaps we had more wickedness, that of the road. As a child, I never went to football school, like everyone else in those days. Unforgettable matches as a school in the dusty pitches of Porto Torres. We daydreamed and our team was called Santos. Just like that of Pelé ”.
