Phil Collins says goodbye to his fans, the Genesis concert on Saturday 26 March at the O2 Arena in London was the last of his life.

The 71-year-old music legend is no longer able to play after back surgeries.

The group - which includes Phil, keyboardist Tony Banks and guitarist-bassist Mike Rutherford - had announced the reunion for the tour "The Last Domino?" after 14 years of absence from live shows, but last year he was forced to cancel several dates due to Covid. During the tour Collins performed while seated, unable to use the cane to walk. He only sang, while his 20-year-old son Nic replaced him on the drums.

“I don't do anything - he explained to the Guardian -. I don't practice singing at home, at all. The evidence is the practice. My health changes things, doing the show sitting changes things ".

"Now I'll have to find a real job," he ironically pointed out.

Phil Collins' health problems date back to at least 2009, when he suffered a crush of the vertebrae due to the position in which he played the drums. In 2015 he underwent a second surgery. A condition then aggravated by diabetes, so much so that the artist could no longer hold the sticks in his hand or stand up to sing.

Born on January 30, 1951, in the 1970s Phil Collins began his career with Genesis playing drums. He then became the voice of the group when Peter Gabriel left in 1975. His solo career has been marked by such hits as In the Air Tonight or Against All Odds.
