Independent Sardinian documentary cinema received a major accolade at the sixth edition of the Hip Hop CineFest, held at Rome's Fusolab. "Lontano dal centro" won the Audience Award, marking director Roberto Pili's third triumph at the prestigious festival.

The documentary, produced by Francesco Pili, won the Audience Award, once again confirming the strong connection between the Roman festival and the work of the Cagliari-born director, documentary filmmaker, photojournalist, and videographer, with a solid career and extensive experience in the field of visual journalism.

The documentary tells the story of Richard “Dj Sputo” Di Via, an authentic and historic figure of underground hip hop culture, through a direct, human gaze deeply rooted in the cultural and social peripheries, all enriched by the contributions of several historic exponents of the national hip hop scene such as Esa of OTR, Danno of Colle Der Fomento, Dj Stile and Dj Fakser.

A coherent and recognizable artistic path that over the years has transformed Roberto Pili into one of the most authentic voices in audiovisual storytelling related to contemporary urban culture. His works are distinguished by a visceral and immersive style, capable of narrating reality without filters, placing the people, fragilities, and identities of artistic and social peripheries at the center.

The victory of "Lontano dal centro" also represents an important recognition for the independent production carried out by Francesco Pili, who with this project contributes to strengthening the dialogue between Sardinia, documentary cinema, and national hip hop culture.
