Sardinia is very rich in biodiversity and, moreover, with reference to its native flora, it is also the object of great interest at an international level, with various and notable implications of both a scientific and economic nature.

Consider, for example, the presence of exclusive molecules that endemic Sardinian plants (with medicinal properties) possess and the applicative implications that these could have in various fields (pharmaceutical and cosmetic).

Medicinal plants, therefore, despite being a niche sector, are a strategic agronomic element of great importance, for the conservation of the island's biodiversity but also in terms of the potential for economic and social development of the territory.

The idea is to create an event (lasting a weekend in the spring), divided into different themes and phases aimed at creating interrelations and contact between the different protagonists of the medicinal plants and herbs sector, to contribute to sustainable economic growth of the territory.

The initiative aims in particular to:

a) Activate strategies capable of promoting the relationship between medicinal plants and: - protection of biodiversity - research - local development and employment.

b) Promote effective information on the sector's potential and possible implications.

Herbaria: two days of Festival among herbs, grains, tradition and innovation

Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June in Soddì, a small village in Guilcier - Barigadu, an appointment with a varied list of speakers, round tables, demonstration workshops.

Central theme: the care of the territory and the new perspectives to revitalize soils and social fabrics. Chentu Zenias, Cultural recreational sports association has involved teachers and experts from the territory but also from other regions of Italy for a communication mosaic aimed at both private citizens and local entrepreneurs and administrators.

In an era in which environmental issues are central, we want to demonstrate how small practical actions can become daily habits capable of triggering great changes.

Reclaiming local food, including the respectful collection of wild and medicinal herbs, a source of phytocompounds, nutrients and wild microorganisms so loved today by food science and gastronomy, goes hand in hand with the rediscovery of techniques and technologies from the past, which are more relevant than ever because they have a low impact.
