A particular procedure performed in the hemodynamic rooms of Arnas G. Brotzu in Cagliari was broadcast live "live" this morning during the GISE-TIP congress organized by the Italian society of interventional cardiology in Naples.

The patient, a 60-year-old, was implanted with a transcatheter aortic prosthesis (Tavi) "valve-in-valve", ie with the implantation of a prosthesis (mounted on a catheter) inside an old biological prosthesis inserted 13 years ago and now degenerate.

A minimally invasive intervention with an innovative nature that today allows, under local anesthesia and without stopping the circulation, to restore a normal function of the aortic valve, without having to subject the patient to the surgery traditionally performed until a few years ago to replace the old prosthesis aortic.

To discuss the case, a multispecialist team of Arnas G. Brotzu including interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, cardioanesthesiologists, radiologists and nephrologists, considering that the patient was suffering from numerous and serious renal and respiratory diseases.

The Complex Structure of Interventional Cardiology with Hemodynamics of Arnas G. Brotzu, directed by Bruno Loi, was selected together with 5 other national centers of primary importance to broadcast the intervention live during the work of the congress.
