In Sardinia, tumors are the leading cause of death, with a rate that reached 33.01% in 2021, exceeding the national average of 29.4% . The incidence of tumors is lower than in Northern Italy, but mortality is significantly higher. For these reasons, argue the councilors of Uniti con Alessandra Todde , «it is necessary to complete the Tumor Registry of the Sardinia Region». This is the aim of the motion illustrated this morning by Giuseppe Frau, Valdo Di Nolfo and Sebastian Cocco . «The registry is an essential tool for public health, its operation would allow us to effectively monitor and analyze the incidence and prevalence of oncological pathologies on the Island , as well as strengthen prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of tumors, ensuring a more functional system», explain the signatories.

For Frau, in particular, "the registry cannot be considered a simple archive, but a fundamental tool for protecting citizens' health and planning targeted interventions. We must intervene urgently , bring the debate to the Council and ensure that the Region equips itself with a direction in the fight against tumors". According to Di Nolfo, "investing in the registry means investing in the lives of citizens, especially in a region that has paid the high price of military and industrial servitude . Every day of delay is a missed opportunity to save lives". Finally, Cocco notes that "the delays in the complete activation of the registry are now incomprehensible . It is time to give Sardinia an operational tool".
