The dual mandate has now lasted six months, and some maintain that the situation will remain unchanged until the end of the legislative session. Governor Alessandra Todde assumed interim responsibility for Health at the end of 2025, after revoking Armando Bartolazzi's mandate. The Region's very brief statement dated December 11th described the position as interim "until the appointment of a new councilor."
As if the transition were imminent and, above all, a given. But since that day, the president has had no difficulty identifying with the role of the woman in Sardinia's healthcare system. "We must be incisive on policies, and I believe Sardinians care little about how long my interim mandate will last," she has always said. "They care more about how effective it is, whether there is actually a change of pace, and whether the measures we are implementing meet the region's healthcare needs. The interim mandate is used by the minority, but it's marginal. I'll keep it in place as long as it's needed."
In reality, it's not just the center-right that's calling for a full-time councilor. Discontent is growing among the majority. The Democratic Party has always considered the interim "an emergency measure, not a permanent one." Todde listened, but—according to close sources—never seriously considered stepping down. Also because—according to the most widespread opinion—he wouldn't know who to entrust with such a delicate mandate.
