The regional councilor for health, Mario Nieddu, spoke this morning at the University of Cagliari during the meeting organized for the inauguration of the new academic year of the postgraduate school in Health Psychology, a health discipline in the non-medical area.

"My dream is that young people come out of here who love what they are going to do. The risk, otherwise, is that we have not learned anything from this pandemic that has put us in front of complex challenges on every front", said the councilor, addressing the trainees.

In the course of his speech, the exponent of the Giunta Solinas recalled the centrality of training, recalling, in particular, the commitments undertaken by the Region: "We have taken up a program that was missing for some time with important investments. Today, only for schools of specialization in the non-medical health area, we finance ninety-five scholarships. In 2018 there were just six for the whole island. In particular, for the specialization school in Health Psychology, we went from funding just four scholarships to the current eleven ", underlined the commissioner Nieddu. "Today - continued the commissioner - for all the schools of specialization in health disciplines in the medical and non-medical area, the Region has deployed huge resources to finance 253 new regional scholarships every year with a three-year program. In 2018 they were just over thirty ".

"The shortage of specialized operators is one of the reasons for the greatest suffering in our health system, a problem that has distant roots. Investing in our young people is the only way to change direction and in this sense we have laid solid foundations for the future of our Island ", concluded the commissioner.
