The "Walks of the spirit", promoted by the regional and diocesan pastoral care of tourism and leisure led by Don Ignazio Serra in the towns around Lake Omodeo , raise the bar. Next spring, 25 km itineraries will be proposed which ideally represent the "Sardinian variants" of the stages traveled by pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela .

In this way, the pre-established goal slowly comes to fruition, when a project was conceived which at the time seemed ambitious and almost utopian, but which is now becoming a reality. «The surprising data and the boom in participation in the initiatives proposed so far - underlines Don Ignazio Serra - make us understand that we are truly on the right track. It is an important sign, for example, that people are available to arrive from Tonara and San Gavino, but also from many other centers in the province and on the island ».

To date, 12 out of the 18 planned walks have been completed, i.e. two thirds of the program and covered for over 70 km. There is also a constant presence of mayors or local administrators who are fully understanding how important benefits can come from people who visit the area for the communities themselves.

The news

«After Easter - announces Don Ignazio - we will have 2 or 3 walks of 25 km, a typical day in Santiago, with the participation of some who have already done the Spanish way and with experts. This, in order to test the Guilcier and Barigadu as a sort of one-week test, in the routes around the lake, before going on the 800 km journey to Santiago. Soon – announces the religious – the paths of Abbasanta, Fordongianus, Paulilatino and Villanova Truschedu will be tested».
