The largest Phoenician-Punic burial site in the center of the capital: guided tours of the Tuvixeddu necropolis in Cagliari will resume on Saturday the 21st , with an excursion led by Nadir Sardinia guides that will also include the exterior of Villa Mulas Mameli . The meeting point will be at 10:30 a.m. at Via Falsarego 9 , reservations required.
A tour to rediscover the necropolis's historical richness, accompanied by anecdotes related to the complex and important for understanding the centuries-old relationship between the people of Cagliari and Tuvixeddu . Having long been ignored and repeatedly threatened, its integrity is now more essential than ever to understand and protect this impressive archaeological site .
The tour will also take participants along the recently opened path leading to the gates of Villa Mulas Mameli , an important example of early 20th-century Art Nouveau in Cagliari , one of the very few still visible after the devastation of wartime bombings. The building was constructed on the ruins of the Massa family home and the adjacent farm, whose greenery is now part of the large area surrounding the villa: a space itself a vestige of the once flourishing gardens, but from which it is possible to admire the Santa Gilla lagoon in its entirety .
