Discover a prestigious exhibition space in the heart of the historic center: guided tours of the MUACC - University Museum of Contemporary Arts and Cultures of Cagliari - resume this weekend . The museum was created in 2021 by the university to showcase and publicize its many works of art. Tours begin on Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th , both from 11:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. , and continue on April 25th and 26th at the same time .
The Museum houses a permanent collection of paintings and sculptures from the second half of the last century , unique pieces collected on the initiative of Corrado Maltese , and complemented by forty-nine more signed by Italo Antico from a recent and large-scale donation. Also noteworthy is the building at number 63 of the panoramic Via Santa Croce , of which the MUACC now occupies two floors. It once belonged to the Counts of Quirra and was formerly known as Palazzo Cugia or Palazzo Nieddu.
Along with regular guests, the museum also presents other works in occasional contemporary art exhibitions , as well as conferences and educational activities . This makes it a research and dissemination center for sharing the results of the university's scientific work with the public. Reservations are required for those interested.
