The Five Star Movement has lost its identity and, above all, the "diversity" that made it unique. It was born to change politics, but then politics changed the Movement. It should have listened to citizens, and it started listening to the polls. It should have cared about the future, and it ended up caring about seats.

Beppe Grillo wrote this on his blog in a long post titled "They got carried away without reading the instructions," returning after a long silence to address the Movement—in a highly critical manner.

Grillo also recalls that "it was born from a popular sentiment that continues to exist, even if those who should have represented it have stopped listening to it."
