The Government challenges the law on the third mandate of the province of Trento, the League votes against
In the Council of Ministers the decision after a heated debate, Fugatti: «A heavy institutional act»The Council of Ministers, as reported by several sources, has decided to challenge before the Constitutional Court the law of the Autonomous Province of Trento that increased the limit of consecutive mandates for the President of the Province from two to three.
The resolution came after a rather controversial discussion among ministers, and with the opposing vote of those from the League. Among others, the Minister for Regional Affairs Roberto Calderoli and the Minister for Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida spoke.
"We consider it a very serious institutional act against the prerogatives of Trentino autonomy, with a clear political value", commented the president of the autonomous province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti. "The special autonomies - he added - as the Constitutional Court said between the lines in the Campania ruling, have exclusive legislative power on this matter. Therefore we consider this an act against the autonomy of Trentino".
