Arnas Brotzu has issued an internal notice: doctors who wish to do so can provide additional services at a number of locations "in persistent critical situations." Carbonia, La Maddalena, Nuoro, Olbia, Oristano, San Gavino, Sorgono, and Tempio are so short-staffed that they cannot guarantee the continuity of emergency care.

Therefore, we ask for availability —to be submitted by noon today—to cover single 12-hour shifts or multiple consecutive days, up to a maximum of one week. In this case, room and board will be covered by the company. The hourly rate for these services is €100 gross.

With the era of "token workers" now legally over, the call to Brotzu's white coats to help out in emergency rooms across Sardinia provides a measure of the dramatic situation of healthcare in the region, which ultimately, in one way or another, continues to weigh on the region's largest hospital.
