"He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and we will miss him more than any word can ever express." It is the intimate memory entrusted to social media by the family of John Miles, the English musician who died at 72.

“He will live forever in our hearts - we still read on his official Facebook page - and with the wonderful musical legacy he left. You were our first love and you will be our last ”.

According to the BBC, the singer, guitarist and keyboardist left "peacefully after a short illness".

Born in Jarrow, North East England, on April 23, 1949, Miles was best known for his hit "Music", produced by Alan Parsons and with orchestral arrangements by Andrew Powell, which peaked at number 3 on the British charts in 1976. The following year the success would also lead him to the Sanremo Festival as a guest.

“Britain has lost one of its most talented musicians - added his manager Cliff Cooper - John has played alongside artists such as Tina Turner, Jimmy Page, Joe Cocker, Andrea Bocelli and many others. I can say he was extremely kind, but also one of the most talented and gifted musicians and writers on the planet. We will miss him a lot, but his music will live forever ”.
