The goal was to preserve the memory of the country. One way to avoid dispersing the history of the community, a resource for the future. With this intent in Gonnoscodina , just over 400 souls, a digital library was born where the history of the town of Marmilla is narrated.

The project was presented a few days ago by Lorenzo Mori , creator of the initiative and president of the cultural transformation association RiverRun Hub. The initiative, financed by the Region, was developed in 8 months of activity during which the inhabitants, the library, the local association Po Baddai Impari, the confraternity of the Madonna del Rosario and the municipal administration collaborated to raise the house for home family photos, private letters and postcards, old recordings, period portraits, newspaper articles and historical documents.

Precious testimonies that now constitute a digital library accessible also thanks to the QR codes installed in the most popular places in Gonnoscodina.

There are many stories to discover in the online archive: how the work in the fields took place, the chats between neighbors, the feasts of the patron saint, the afternoons at the village bar, the outings and much more. Moments that tell the story and the soul of a place that has been overwhelmed by economic and social changes and has been suffering from depopulation for some time.

«The project - said Francesca Pusceddu of the local association Po Baddai Impari - managed to involve the community again, which after the pandemic was struggling to resume social relations. We have been overwhelmed by requests from people who wanted to share their memories, each family has opened the door to us and given us a piece of their own story».

Mayor Luciano Frau: «This digital library was a nice gift to the community. Commitment to valuing one's own history is a way of being and collaborating together and to do so, everyone's commitment is needed».
