This morning in Golfo Aranci , on the sea view terrace of the Ostrica Ubriaca, the artistic director Matteo Pianezzi with the co-founders Francesca Vargiu and Mauro Addis and the mayor Mario Mulas presented the program of the film festival dedicated to short films, which will begin on Monday.

There will be 40 films in the competition , selected from the 1500 titles presented and coming from 60 countries , for the national, international, animation, regional and "red shoes" sections, the latter dedicated to stories with a female theme. Shorts that will be examined by the jury made up of Italian actors Andrea Arcangeli , Michela Giraud , Matteo Martari, Thony and Aurora Giovinazzo and the journalist Annalia Venezia , while Juliette Canon , director of the short film section of the very prestigious Semaine de la Critique in Cannes , Jaime Manrique , director of the BogoShorts Festival in Bogota , and Joao Gonzalez , multi-awarded Portuguese director fresh from his Oscar nomination in the Best Animated Short Film category with "Ice Merchants", will choose the most deserving of the national and animated films.

«Selecting the titles, given the number and quality, was complicated», begins Pianezzi. "There will be national and even world premieres, and for the first time shorts will arrive directly from Cannes , where we went to scout films," explained the host. Mayor Mulas was very satisfied with the event, also from a tourist point of view. "It's nice to perceive the interest from the cinema in Golfo Aranci, and to see films like Disney's "The Little Mermaid", shot in part in Cala Moresca, reach the Night of the Oscars", commented the mayor of the Gallura village, in which, in the week of Figari, Jacopo Cullin , Andrea Pinna , Greta Scarano and Giacomo Ferrara are also expected.

A week full of cinema which, as per tradition, also includes two special prizes : on the evening of 26 June the Beatrice Bracco Award will be presented, for the best young national performers, to Aurora Giovinazzo and Andrea Lattanzi , while on 27 it will be the turn of Guglielmo Marconi Award , awarded to the young actress Marta Filippi known for her parodies on the social page @lacasadimarta.

Among this year's most coveted awards are the Rai Cinema, France TV and WeShort awards, which will allow three short films to be purchased and then broadcast by the initiative's partner broadcasters and platforms. To enrich the program, the 7th edition of the Figari International Short Film Market will be staged from 29 June to 1 July, the event dedicated to professionals of the short film industry which this year will see the major players discuss the future of the short film in Italy and its international competitiveness. Special project of the Looking 4 market, through which 12 young directors and producers will have the opportunity to present their short film projects under development to a parterre of international producers and distributors, with the hope of seeing their films produced, distributed and purchased from one of the companies involved.
