Global Game Jam is coming to Quartu for its tenth edition. For video game enthusiasts, 48 hours of full immersion are planned for a friendly international competition.

The event, scheduled for 5:00 PM on January 30th and running until 5:00 PM on February 1st, will be held at the Spazio Michelangelo Pira. The theme will be announced closer to the start of the competition.

Promoted by the Fabbricastorie association, in collaboration with the Municipality, the event involves not only developers: in fact, a game also requires other personalities, such as artists, graphic designers, musicians and obviously the essential game designers.

Participants, gathered in spontaneous groups, will compete in creating a game prototype to present to the other participants at the end of the 48 hours.

The Fabbricastorie association has been organizing the Cagliari session of the event since 2017, when 40 developers took on the Jam challenge at the Cagliari tobacco factory.

Since then, the metropolitan area has seen the emergence of a real informal community, with schools dedicated to video game programming and small independent design and development studios.

The Global Game Jam will bring all these skills together in Quartu, the regional capital of digital games and creativity for two days.

Seminars, workshops, and conferences are planned alongside the event . The latest edition of the challenge simultaneously involved nearly 40,000 people from 100 different countries.
