Giorgio Panariello, fresh winner of Lol 4 and on tour in theaters throughout Italy, recounted one of the darkest moments of his television career.

"I was stopped for three years on television for saying one word too many," he revealed in an interview given during Gianluca Gazzoli's podcast.

«In the '80s I was doing an imitation of Roberto Benigni on Rai1 - recalls the 63-year-old Florentine comedian - there was a tomato-shaped telephone on the set and I had agreed with the authors: at a certain point it would have to ring the phone and I would say my joke and do the gag ."

«The phone rang repeatedly but I couldn't finish the gag , so I turned around and said "Madonna pomodoro" , because in our country we use to say "Madonna" followed by something else. Like if you drop your glass, "Madonna glass"... that "Madonna Pomodoro" of mine stopped me for two, three years. On Rai1 you couldn't say certain things ."
