In love with rocks, especially those overlooking the sea. A year ago, Giampaolo Sarti , an 86-year-old engineer, presented his book "The other face of Solanas in rock". It was a success. Today, however, he will be at the Archaeological Museum in via Frau at 7 pm to present his second work , "The other face of Villasimius in rock". Moderator will be Tore Sanna. Gianni Murgia, former university professor of modern history, will intervene. Mayor Luca Dessì will be present.

Great curiosity about this photographic work that highlights a habitat of extraordinary interest: the rocks and not just those that observe the magnificent sea of Villasimius .

«I have always said – says Giampaolo Sarti – of the fascination that rocks and all their strange shapes exert on me that I can discover and photograph in any condition, even the strangest and most unthinkable».

«A passion accompanied by the pleasure of excursions - continues the writer, in love with these places - which has led me over time to accumulate an abundant series of images, then collected in an archive, from which it has been possible for me to draw an orderly selection , dividing the territory into zones. After Solanas' study and photos, here is my new book on the neighboring territory of Villasimius, for a new original story in rock».

Sarti in his book presents the rocks of the area between Riu Francischeddu and Nuraghe Giardoni, between the Crucuris Village up to the granite quarry, from Torre Vecchia to Punta Santo Stefano, and still Cala Caterina and Cala Burroni, up to the tip of Capo Carbonara through the around Cava Usai and Porto Giunco, up to Punta Molentis. And then still other sites with rocks of all shapes and stone finds of extraordinary beauty and interest.

Engineer, employee of Sip, then retired. The father, Dario, was a forester. And he too had fallen in love with the mountains since he was a child. At the time the Sarti family lived in Sinnai in via Colletta.

«In truth – says Giampaolo Sarti, now residing in Cagliari – I have always traveled Sardinia with my work. Even as a pensioner, I haven't stopped walking, taking an interest in the island, in the environment, also through excursions with the Bios association in Sinnai. I especially fell in love with rocks, I observed them carefully, all different from each other, I observed and photographed. This is how my first two books made of photographs were born».
