On Monday 15 July at 6pm, the conference room of the State Archives of Cagliari (in via Gallura 2) will host an event to commemorate the centenary of the death of Giacomo Matteotti.

Federico Fornaro will present his book "Giacomo Matteotti. The best of Italy", published by Bollati Boringhieri, offering a new look at the figure of Matteotti through a biography that explores not only his political activity but also his human and moral impact. The meeting represents an opportunity to rediscover and reflect on the Italian politician, journalist and anti-fascist, secretary of the Socialist Unity Party, and on his contribution to the fight for rights and his lasting legacy in the social and political fabric of our country.

Fornaro's book is not only an account of the tragic events of 10 June 1924, but an in-depth analysis of the political and personal life of Giacomo Matteotti who, with his courage and determination, embodied a vigorous resistance against the fascist regime, becoming an indelible symbol of justice and freedom.

During the presentation, Fornaro will dialogue with Gianluca Scroccu, professor of contemporary history at the University of Cagliari, and Enrico Trogu, director of the State Archives of Cagliari, examining the lasting significance of the figure of Matteotti in Italian history and in the current political panorama.
