The conference is divided into a technical-legal session and a technical-institutional session to address all aspects of “no food” GIs: from the tools implemented by regional and national institutions to clarifications on the legislation. The meeting will be opened by Gian Luigi Sotgia, head of cabinet of the regional department of Programming, budget, credit and territorial planning, by Carmen Atzori, general director of Sardegna Ricerche, by Stefano Lavra, president of ISRE and Angela Maria Porcu, general director of the regional department of tourism, crafts and trade, while the closing of the works will be entrusted to Franco Cuccureddu, regional councilor for Tourism, crafts and trade. The meeting will close with the screening of the film "Corpo Erede" directed by Lucio Aru and Franco Erre.

GIs are useful tools against counterfeiting and represent an opportunity for Sardinian businesses as they aim for protection at the European Union level, directly applicable to artisanal and industrial products. They will also facilitate collaboration between the public and private sectors in productions that have an identity value. Crafts and specific industrial sectors will therefore be able to enjoy greater protection in terms of traditional know-how and iconography, also in compliance with the rules on competition and aid to businesses.
