General practitioners, agreement signed: "More money and benefits, but this way we'll die in the clinic."
Green light for the regional supplementary budget. Bartolazzi: "Better conditions, in the name of Maddalena Carta."Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
But why did this happen? Why did Dr. Maddalena Carta, a family doctor in Dorgali with a huge patient load, find herself without even the time to reflect on her health and address her alarming fatigue? Is it really enough to place all the responsibility on her for her decision to continue working despite everything?
Denied rights
The real crux of what happened lies precisely here, within a system that, warns Stefano Sanna of the Mèigos (Young Doctors of Sardinia) association, "precisely because of its contractual framework, doesn't allow family doctors the option of stopping until they first find a colleague, a replacement, to whom they can divert patients." Perhaps something will change now that—as reported yesterday afternoon—the regional supplementary agreement for general practitioners has been signed.
New allowances
"This is a significant result, anticipated for fifteen years," explained Health Councilor Armando Bartolazzi, who was at the meeting with union representatives. "This agreement will change doctors' living and working conditions," he assured, "providing a fundamental boost to the development of medical infrastructure in the region." But there's a bad feeling among general practitioners: that the signed agreement won't change their working conditions.
