When thinking about a cult series like “Game of Thrones,” there are few examples that can be considered on the same level.

Since its debut, the HBO television show has won over an impressive number of viewers for the attention and care shown in the adaptation of the works of George R.R. Martin, giving life to an eight-season journey that - until its controversial conclusion - crowned it among the most followed and appreciated products destined for the small screen of all time.

As is well known, the creators of the series David Benioff and DB Weiss had to deal with the discontent of a good portion of the fans after the drop in quality of the last episodes and the disappointing response of the final episode. If the main reasons lie in the fact that, starting from the fifth season, the show could no longer rely on the guidelines of the novels - considering that the saga of "A Song of Ice and Fire" is still waiting for a conclusion - much more responsibility would be attributed to the choices made by the showrunners, accused of not having fully respected the spirit of the work with a hasty and uninspired direction.

It took a long time for the bitter disappointment of the last episode to die down the controversy, and not even the launch of a petition asking HBO to reshoot the eighth season seems to have helped. In contrast, actor Peter Dinklage, who for his performance as Tyrion Lannister has placed himself at the top of the most beloved characters of the show, has intervened on the issue. Even after five years, the star continues to believe that the finale of “Game of Thrones” is worthy of praise, as revealed during an interview with Rolling Stone for the promotion of his latest film “The Thicket”.

Without hesitation, he argued about it: "I like the ending! You don't have to agree with me. I can't speak for anyone else's opinion, and that's what makes our job fun, because everyone has different opinions and everyone can write about them and chat about them and drink about them and argue about them. It's great. I mean, I think it means you're doing something right."

For those who were not convinced even after the conciliatory opinions of the cast, Warner Bros. has calmed the hot spirits: as revealed in the last few hours by The Hollywood Reporter, the production company is currently busy starting the production plans for a film set in the epic world of Westeros. Based on the information gathered, the project is still in an embryonic phase, currently lacking a director, a screenwriter and the starting cast.

In any case, the choice of a film adaptation remains interesting, in line with the initial intentions of the creators to proceed to the final stages with a film trilogy. Going back to 2015, Martin himself stated in a past interview that he was aware of the producers' desire to make a feature film: "There will be a film, but I will not be involved. I have too much to do. It's something that HBO, DB and David are dealing with. I have two more books to finish and I still have a lot to do. They are considering the possibility of going back in time during certain periods of the series. That means that some of the great characters that fans have seen die on screen could be resurrected."

In the meantime, in addition to the ongoing work on the third season of “House of the Dragon,” fans are eager to see what the spin-off series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” will bring, scheduled for a summer 2025 release. While we wait for more fleshed-out details, Martin gave us some early teasers in a comment on the official blog: “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a smaller show than Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon, with a much smaller budget, but I really want it to be big. Ninety percent of the story is set in a field, surrounded by tents, so there’s no need for the huge sets that other shows have had, but it can’t look fake or cheap either, and the costumes, heraldry, and fights have to be beautiful. I was so happy when I got there and saw what Ira and his team had built.”
